The online editor is a jack of all trades! That is the result of a research conducted on behalf of the consultation agency ‘aexea’ and the online portal ‘contentmanager.de’ – even though the phrasing was more moderate, of course. According to the study, they are ‘true all-rounders’, who know how to coordinate many different tasks in their workaday lives. Online editors do research into their topics, write texts, take care of the programming and design of the websites, edit pictures, and look after organizational matters.

These results come from a poll among the departments responsible for online publishing in 270 German and European companies. But the many-talented word acrobats didn’t only win laurels but had to accept some criticism, too. The study uncovered clear deficits in the evaluation of online communication: despite high-performance statistics software, the results were not analyzed and interpreted on a regular basis, according to the majority of the participants of the study. Nevertheless, the results are very positive and in the light of the complete exposition being called a ‘jack of all trades’ can definitely be taken as a compliment.
