Some days ago we received a letter from our colleague Errol Barnett asking for help with his latest project. For ‘WorldView’ on iReport.com, the CNN correspondent relies on cooperation from all around the globe. What does the world think about the USA in times of the financial crisis? What is the people’s view on the US elections? And last but not least: who do they favour as the next president: Obama or McCain?

‘It is this world view of the U.S. elections, made up of so many perspectives, that makes this story so compelling, and our viewers from around the world will be fascinated to hear how varied and articulate those perspectives are.’

A really exciting topic, we agreed and sent our editor Andreas Göbel off to do some research. Supported by Gundolf Völler, our expert in audio-visual material (ave-voeller, Obernburg), he took a peep into the German soul and captured the ‘German View’ for CNN.
